Is Webdriver Torso an elaborate test or is it something much more sinister? Warning. The clips presented in this video could cause seizes, paranoia, and possibly lead to the control of your mind. The Youtube Channel named WebDriver Torso started releasing thousands of videos in 2013. Most of the videos are about ten seconds long and display changing blue and red rectangular shapes, set to a changing dial tone. Each video is labeled “auqua.flv” followed by a series of numbers in the bottom left hand corner. What’s really strange about this channel is the quantity of videos. For years, videos have been uploaded nearly every thirty seconds. Most of the videos have the same style, a combination of blue and red shapes and a generated tones. One particularly strange video is titled: tmpRkRL85 The videos starts like all the others but then we see a red silhouette of a man dancing. RkRl stands for Radio Knowledge Representation Language. However it has also been thought to reference the Rick Astleys video Never Gonna Give You Up. When you watch this video, which has over 130 million views, we realize the red silhouetted dancer in the WebDriver video is a modified Astley from the Never Gonna Give You Up video. Another strange video from WebDriver is titled 00014. This video shows the eiffel Tower lighting up and thus leaves a clue about the location of WebDriver’s creator. At the end of the video we can see the WebDriver Torso Facebook page. Torso also commented on this video saying “Matei is highly intelligent.” A project known as Cicada 3301 surfaced on the internet in 2012. It attempted to recruit “highly intelligent individuals” through puzzle solving. People have speculated that it was a CIA or NSA recruitment project. It’s search for “highly intelligent individuals” sounds eerily similar to WebDriver Toros’s comment, “matai is highly intelligent” and leads one to think that WebDriver may also be a similar type of puzzle, being used for recruitment. But for who? Could Alien life be behind the mysterious channel, trying to communicate through code? A final anomaly is this video. 0.455442373793. Unless you’re in France, you won’t be able to view the upload. Additionally, you have to pay to watch the video using a French Credit card.
