LONDON to BERLIN, BA Club Europe, Plaza Premium Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5 HD
I was flying to Berlin after a long time from Heathrow Terminal 5. Usually, I would never book a Club Europe (business class) ticket for this short flight but because I was booking the flight last minute, everything was expensive and no other times suit me. I ended up booking Club Europe for the flight to Berlin and economy for the trip back. The whole trip cost me 23500 Avios + £85, for two people. Considering the prices for similar flights and that I needed check-in luggage, I was ok with this Avios redemption. At least I was ready to check out the British Airways Galleries Club Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5. Considering how many people in the UK have status with BA, plus that Terminal 5 is a BA terminal, I was expecting Galleries Lounges to be pretty busy even this early in the morning. It wasn’t as bad at the beginning, but the lounge filled pretty fast. I found the lounge a little bit too noisy. Luckily, I knew that only a few months ago the new Plaza Premium lounge was opened in Terminal 5. At the moment there are not many options on how to get into this lounge. By showing American Express Platinum card - which was what I did. http://amex.co.uk/refer/stefavdWre?XLINK=MYCP By showing a DragonPass lounge club card - not that common in the UK By paying cash ($49 for 2 hours booked online, $79 for 5 hours, or using LoungeBuddy for $45) I could take +1 on my card which was nice. I fell in love with this lounge instantly. Because the lounge wraps around the edge of the terminal building it is very open and light. It was a beautiful sunny morning, and the energy in the lounge was terrific. What an excellent start to the long day. The food selection was smaller than in the Galleries Lounge but had all the essential ingredients for the healthy nutritious breakfast like bacon, sausages, cupcakes and apple juice. The lounge was beautiful, quiet and relaxing. Everything was clean. Staff was super friendly and attentive. The deciding factor is people or the lack of them. The lounge has been almost empty during the whole time I was there. After the lovely time in the lounge, it was time to board the plane. There was nothing exceptional about the BA’s business class. The main features are an empty seat between the passengers, more luggage and a meal. They also put ‘priority’ tag on your bag but then there is no priority luggage handling at the destination, so it was mostly just a waste of paper. The meal was horrible. Remarkably salty scrambled eggs with sausage. Luckily I stuffed myself in the lounge. Other than that the flight was excellent and the whole experience was pleasant. Thank you for watching!
