"ENDANAU DANCE SYNOPSIS" By. Sekar Kedaton Community Endanau is a traditional of society to catch the fish and this story from natural society of Kutai to catch the fish, in particular inland society of mahakam river, who describe in dance form, where when the Mahakam River is overflow and attack violently the village. The society feel so glad and happy because the overflow river bring’s a blessing for Kutai’s people. Because when the overflow river is disappeared, Then they will blessing with so many fish just like they harvest fish. Endanau it Mean’s : Some activity to catch the fish in a lake. The source of endanau word is a lake it means a wallow wide land. Where the prefix of EN indicate a place or the point of activity or what they do. So the meaning’s of endanau is the activity of society to catch the fish by their own hand or with a simple / traditional equipment like Tanggok or Sodok in Kutai language. And they go down to the lake Men or Women, old and young people. This traditional dance consist by four man and four women and describe about society to cath the fish in a dance from with percussion music with seven player.
