Since When Does Holocaust Remembrance Day Fall On Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day - APRIL 24??

April 24 is the most significant day for the Armenian people. From birth to death, April 24 is worn on their sleeves much like September 11 is for Americans. On this day in 1915, Turkish militants arrested over 300 Armenian intellectuals, judges, doctors, writers etc. in Constantinople (or Istanbul today) and executed them in order to kill the “brains” of the society. This would then be followed by the deportation of 2.3 million Christian Armenians by Muslim Turks, of which 1.5 million would be killed in concentration camps or along the way. For the first time in history this year, Israel and Jews abroad have decided to mark Holocaust Remembrance Day on April 24. This should be seen as an insult to Armenian Genocide victims and their grandchildren as their story has already been overshadowed by the Holocaust. In fact, Israel remains to be one of the few countries that continues to deny the Armenian Genocide along with Turkey, even lobbying against recognition in US Congress.
