Zach Janky - Motion Graphics Reel HD
Motion graphics reel for work done in After Effects. A breakdown of shots is included after the initial reel. Breakdown: Shot 1 This was a movie title sequence designed entirely in Adobe After Effects for my Digital Design and Animation class. The Audio Waveform effect was linked to a song. The Rough Edges effect was then applied to make the waveforms look grungy. This was rendered out as an animation and brought back into After Effects. Copies of the animated waveform were spaced out in a 3D environment, allowing a camera to fly by them at proper moments. Text was animated and was timed by keyframes to swipe by the camera right as it passed. Shots 2-29 This was a visual effects sequence done for my Capstone film, 8-Bit. All effects were created in After Effects. The characters were created in Photoshop, before being rasterized in Adobe Illustrator and finally imported into After Effects. The blue character was designed by me while the villain was not. All animation and effects were done by me. For the majority of these shots, a white solid had a grid effect applied to it and inserted into 3D space to figure out the perspective of the shot. The characters were then parented to this grid and lights were added to match the lighting of the shot. The grid effect was disabled, allowing the solid to accept the shadows cast by the characters. Finally, the composite mode was set to multiply, removing the white surface while leaving the shadows cast, making it appear that the characters cast shadows on the background plates.
