Learn how to do a cutback turn when surfing by watching these Santa Cruz surfers demonstrate different styles of this maneuver in slow motion. Watch how they setup and initiate the turn. Notice the position of their arms and the turn of the shoulders throughout the turn. Notice how the back hand starts high and comes down and across the body through the turn, finishing close to waist level. Notice the bend of the knees, when they compress and when they extend their legs to maintain drive throughout the turn and avoid stalling-out and losing momentum. Finally, notice where their head is turned and where their eyes are looking. They are looking to where they are going and to where they want the board to go and seeing when they want to bring the board back around to continue the ride.
