Singer makes my ears bleed | Gigging Drummer 28 | Stephen Taylor Drum Lesson -- Few clips from a recent gig in Indy. Couple of things... 1. The singer gets everyone a beverage before the gig. Most of the time mine sits there for the majority of the gig. I am not a fan of drinking and playing the drums. 2. At the 7:20 mark I screw up a drum fill. Notice how I cover and move on quickly. Good players just get better at covering up their mistakes. 3. Starting around the 8:30 mark you will see the singer and I in a struggle for tempo. He was not hearing my kick and hats well in his ears. Hence the reason you see me come in heavy with the hihat. 4. Gear wise, this was a horrible night. We wound up having to do a 35 minute acoustic set while we troubleshot the bass guitar. Actually had to take the back off of it and deal with some wires and connections shorting out. 5. The bass drum mic was a constant issue the entire night. Clipping in my ears if moved just a little.
