How to render Cinema 4D R20 volumes in Octane - WORKAROUND TUTORIAL HD

25.09.2018
A short workaround until Otoy upgrades Octane to Cinema 4D. I will show you how to render a Cinema 4D R20 volume mesh in Octane using the previous version C4D R19. QUIK TIP How to render a R20 Volume Mesh in Octane. Create some geometry. In this example I used a sphere in a cloner object with a random effector. I grouped them into a null object. Create a “Volume Builder”. Make your geometry a child of the Volume Builder. Apply a “Smooth Layer” to make your objects look smoother. Create a “Volume Mesher”. Make your Volume Builder a child of the Volume Mesher. Now, navigate to “file” and then “export”. Select Alembic (*.abc). Save your .abc file on your harddrive. Make sure the Start and End Frame match your scene. Wait for the export to finish. Now, open Cinema 4D R19. Open your Alembic (*.abc) file. Match the Frame Rate of the original scene and click on “OK”. There you go. You render your R20 Volume Meshes in Octane. Subscribe for more QUIK TIPS.
