Pheasant Attack HD

• The storyline is dead simple and you know exactly what the circumstances are at the very beginning right from the start. • The heat wave and news bulletin provides a mysterious fore-warning of events about to unfold. • Suspense starts building immediately without the need for any dialog – that look on your face says it all. • You’re in a hurry to see what the mysterious noise is, but the pace is slowed a bit to draw out the suspense a little bit longer. • The scene changes give a slight pause before we see any activity – giving our minds a moment to absorb the new scene. • Except in the scene change to the location of the attack, we briefly see a puzzling looking “cable gimmick”, but not long enough to figure out what it is before the action begins. • You walk with a determined stride across the field of view to the fateful spot, making good use of the entire screen real-estate. • There’s a brief slight of hands that takes place with the cable gimmick, but again not long enough to figure out what you’re doing before we see the pheasant swoop into view from off-screen, shocking the viewer who is already in a heightened status of suspense. • We see the bird attacking, and while it is a brutal battle, you appear to have the upper-hand in the situation. • In a series of scene changes, the method of attack changes to one with more aggressive strategies. We see the intensity of the battle getting more intense and “in-your-face” with each scene change. • In a stroke of luck for the bird, but bad timing for a video scene change, we now see the Pheasant has gotten a hold of your tongue. • Your eyes blink in alternating patterns of thought, between: a dumbfounded “What the hell is going on???”; a disgusted “How do I get this thing off my face?”; and a sheepish “I sorry, Ollie!”. • The highpoint scene where the bird has your tongue has to be the peak of horror, yet there’s a hint of comedic expressions that barely shows through. • Towards the end, a new facial expression is thrown into the rotation – a defeating “What do I do now?” look of exasperation. • Then, at the height of the conflict – THE END. The viewer is dropped like a hot potato with both their heart and mind racing – about what is going to happen next. After a brief pause at the black screen, about the same duration of a “Fade To Black”, but without the fade … just abrupt blackness. After a few mental pictures of what might happen next fly by, the short is over, and your mind quickly realizes, “Fuck! I’m never gonna find out what happens!” • It’s such a video ride with twists and turns, like a roller-coaster - by the time you comprehend the storyline that you’re witnessing, the ride is over too soon.
