Inauguration of the New MMDA Head Office Building 5/23/2022 HD

Pasig City May 23, 2022 President Rodrigo Roa Duterte graces the inauguration of the new Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Head Office Building in Pasig City on May 23, 2022. Considered as a historic milestone for the Agency, the MMDA Head Office Building is a 20-storey state-of-the-art government facility situated on a 1.45-hectare property that houses facilities accommodating the different services and functions of the Agency. Among its special features are the Agency’s centralized data system, upgraded Metrobase Operations Center and the MMDA Corporate Auditorium. The new Headquarters is also a green and sustainable building with a one-star accreditation from the Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence (BERDE). In a press statement, the MMDA said that the conceptualization of the new Head Office started in 2018 through a national design competition for the facility. The winning conceptual design by Architect Daryl John Abaygar entitled, ‘Solohiya Moderno,’ was used as an inspiration for the building. The design was influenced by the traditional home silhouette and ‘solihiya’ weave pattern with interlocking strands and patterns.
