Metal fence around my plants will protect from squirrels entering

For about a few years by now I am having a hard time to grow my plants, every summer squirrels come around the afternoon while I am not around and destroy the roots and tilt my plants and tear it through the soil. So. I finally came to my realization that I have to do something about this and get to it. I bought a metal gate or the fence wire sheet, I call it and bought me also a cutter for good price and went to work. I cut it and rolled it up around the plant and put it together wrapped it around the plants and good to go. So far it has been the third day and no damages have been reported.
