A Syrian military air strike killed and wounded dozens of people after it hit an olive oil press factory close to the northern city of Idlib on Tuesday, activists said. According to Reuters, activist Tareq Abdelhaq reported that at least 20 people were killed and 50 were injured in the attack on the Abu Hilal olive oil press, located 2km west of Idlib city. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights could only confirm five deaths. Activists said the victims were civilians and that it was unclear if any rebel target was in the vicinity, but acknowledged there were opposition soldiers in the area. They said a Syrian jet fired two barrel bombs that hit the olive press, and that opposition fighters gave medical treatment and helped to evacuate victims. Activist reports are tough to verify as the Syrian government restricts access to foreign news outlets.
