Having the knowledge of the different positions of the pentatonic scale also enables to resolve to the next chord in whatever position I happen to be in on the neck. Having the ability to move across the fret board gives me the freedom to weave melodies and incorporate other musical techniques such as glissandos, vibrato, and string bending.
