Nike vs adidas vs PUMA - The sock collar battle Tech Talk | Purecontrol, Magista & evoTOUCH HD

Football boots with knitted collars are everywhere. Nike Magista Obra 2, adidas ACE16+ Purecontrol, PUMA evoTOUCH Pro all feature high, knitted collars - but which is better, and which boot should you choose? JayMike today takes a look at all the boots on the market with a high collar, also including the adidas X16+ Purechaos, the Messi16+ Pureagility, the Nike Hypervenom Phantom 2 and the Nike Mercurial Superfly 5. The Nike boots all feature the tallest collars with their actually sock shaped Dynamic Fit Collar, but with the Magista they started going away from the tube shape, introducing the ankle pads and the lowered front and back to free up the tendons for better freedom of movement. The funny thing is, that PUMA, who only just released their first hi-cut boot - claim the exact same thing with their evoKNIT collar. It has the opposite shape of the DFC on the Magista Obra II; the front and especially the heel tab is high, whereas the ankle bone - or malleolus as it’s called if you wanna show off to your mates - is kept free as the direct result of the PUMA players asking for them to be for better freedom of movement. For adidas, who quickly followed in Nike’s footsteps with knit, you get two options; the Purecontrol which is slightly lower than the Nike collar but also less tight because of the bigger opening. On the Purechaos and the Pureagility, you get a woven neoprene sock that’s also low-cut, leaving room for the ankle bone - but, both feature this weirdly shaped heel tab that leaves your foot free to move, except for when you bend it to strike, where the tab adds a nice bit of support.
