Lewis Songer was born in Evansville, Indiana, and did his undergraduate work at the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University. He did his graduate work ay Indiana University School of Music. He studied under Roy Harris and Will Gay Bottje. Among his compositions is his Octet Nova and the Piano Concerto presented here.
