Colmar electric rail road shunter model SL160E HD

Colmar Technik has just delivered in Italy the most powerful electric rail road shunter in the world. The SL160E shunter weigh 30 tons and is equipped with two 40kW motors, each supplied by 3 battery packs for a total of 4.200 Ah, which assure a minimum 8 hours, autonomy of continuous. The shunter drawbar pull is 160 kN, and it can tow convoys weighing up to 3.200 tons. The Colmar SL160E shunter replaced an old Atlas shunter model HDL73, at the Italian railway yard of Villa Poma (Mantova). Besides being environment friendly (zero emissions and low noise level), the operating cost of the SL160E shunter is far lower than a traditional shunter; moreover the required maintenance is minimal.
