Colmar, in France, was German between 1871--1918 and 1940--1945 is the third-largest commune of the Alsace region in north-eastern France after Strasbourg and Mulhouse. The town is situated along the Alsatian Wine Route and considers itself to be the "Capital of Alsatian Wine". It is also famous for its 5 Christmas Markets it holds each year.
