Our NBA 2K18 My League expansion team series continues with the trade deadline rapidly approaching and things start to get a bit busy in the league: Trade offers are made left, right and center and the Legionnaires are often part of the suggested deals. Apart from looking at moves we also play a few more games in this episode and a few of them come down to the last seconds. In this ninth episode of the NBA 2K18 My League Expansion series we are being offered several trades and have a look at a few CPU trades as well. The Hornets seem to especially eager to move Dwight Howard who is offered to us in a bargain trade – but we refuse to part ways with rising star Josh Richardson and decline the offer. Our games in this episode are often closer than we’d like them to be and after a win against the Memphis Grizzlies we lose against a decimated Brooklyn Nets team without D’Angelo Russell. Another loss against the Orlando Magic follows before we get back on track and blow out none other than the San Antonio Spurs at home. Deyonta Davis sets a franchise records for rebounds in a single game and spirits are high as we welcome the Celtics in Louisville for the next game. During the series, we will manage all aspects of an NBA expansion team in NBA 2K18’s My League mode, trying to keep things as realistic as possible. We will not abuse NBA 2K18’s trade logic in My League mode or make more than only a handful of roster moves each season. Instead, we will slowly but steadily try to improve the expansion team with players who fit in and can add something to the roster. The ultimate goal of this NBA 2K18 My League Expansion series is to win the NBA championship with our expansion team, but before we can celebrate there is a lot of hard work to do. My original plans were to play through NBA 2K18 My GM mode with an expansion team, but after 2K added a storyline to My GM mode, choosing an expansion team is no longer possible there. Instead, we have to stick to My League mode, which sadly lacks a few of the interesting features that My GM mode had. Still, My League offers greater customization and control, especially when it comes to trading (and keeping the CPU away from completing borderline insane roster moves).
