!!!NEW WATER PRESSURE EXPERIMENT!!! (Physics Lab Water Pressure) SCIENCE EXPERIMENT Crazy Chris is off in the deep end literally and shows you a new and improved water pressure experiment you can do at home! Objective: To understand how water pressure works. Materials Needed: ~ 4 2L Pop Bottles ~ Scissors ~ Pluming Tape ~ Packaging Tape or Electrical Tape ~ 2 Balloons ~ 2 Cloths Pin ~ Fish Tank Tubing ~ Clay Step 1) Cut the top off a 2L pop bottle making sure that you leave some of the curve. Step 2) Cut the bottom off a 2L pop bottle along the line that is on the bottle. Step 3) Cut the top and bottom off leaving some of the curve at the top. Cut 2 of your 2L pop bottles this way. Step 4) Cut 2 5cm long pieces from your fish tank tubing. Step 5) Blow up a balloon to about the size of a grape fruit. Twist the neck of the balloon and use the clothes pin to close it off. Attach the balloon to fish tank tubing using electrical tape. Step 6) Push the rest of the fish tank tubing into the holes you made in the top and bottom bottles. Use some clay to make sure there is no leak. Step 7) Fill the tower with water all the way to top. Remove the clothes pins and watch the balloons. HOW DOES IT WORK: You might think of pressure as only in gases but gravity plus the weight of the atmoshere pushes down on fluids as well. Just like the weight of air gives air its pressure the weight of water also gives the water pressure. Since the top balloon only has a small amount of water which doesnt weigh that much thus having lower pressure the air pressure in the balloon pushes with more force over coming the pressure of that small amount of water and pushes it air out. Which is why water at the top of a pop bottle doesnt shoot out that far. The oppisite goes for the bottom balloon. Since theres roughly 8 liters of water which has more weight and thus higher pressure the air pressure in the balloon cant push back that amount of water with enough force, Since it cant over come the force of the water water pushes into the balloon causing it to expand. Which is why water at the bottom of a pop bottle shoots out the furthest. This is the same reason your ears hurt at the bottom of a pool the massive amount of weight pushing not only down but also sideways, creatures pressure on your ear drums putting more weight on your ear drums then they are used to, causing your ears to hurt. !!!NEW WATER PRESSURE EXPERIMENT!!!
