We’re putting Queen B and Mother Monster head-to-head for this year’s best comeback. Let’s go! Both Beyonce and Lady Gaga have a lot to feel hashtag #BLESSED about in 2016. Mrs. Carter surprised the world during Coldplay’s Super Bowl halftime show with the announcement of her Formation World Tour and new single. Gaga on the other hand was announced as NEXT year’s Super Bowl halftime headliner. So don’t call because they’re both kinda busy. Never forget! Also this year both ladies celebrated number one albums on the Billboard 200 chart and lended their voices to support Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton. But this is no illusion, only ONE of these ladies can have the PERFECT comeback. Lady Gaga dropped her fourth album titled Joanne on October 21, her first album in three years. It was Mother Monster’s fourth album to hit the number one spot, selling one hundred and seventy albums in the first week, the second highest for a female this year. As for our favorite bat swinging housewife, Beyonce amazed us dropping her Lemonade album on April 23. The album was accompanied by a 1 hour film on HBO with shocking themes of adultery, betrayal... and Becky. Lemonade debuted at number one, selling four hundred eighty five thousand copies in the first week- the most of any female in 2016. Oh yeah, and it’s her sixth consecutive number one album! But what about America’s favorite place to waste time- Youtube. On YouTube Beyonce released her “Sorry” music video which has one hundred and fifty five MILLION views and counting, while her “Hold Up” video has forty nine MILLION hits. Lady Gaga has only released one single from Joanne so far, “Perfect Illusion” has 51 million views and counting. But to be fair you guys- Lemonade came out six months before Joanne. How did the ladies stack up during award show season in 2016? Beyonce was not only nominated for an Emmy for her Lemonade film, but won a Teen Choice Award and a staggering 8 out of 11 MTV VMA nominations. Just as impressive, Lady Gaga WON a Best Actress Golden Globe for her role in American Horror Story: Hotel and was nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars for “Till It Happens to You”. As you saw, Gaga performed her nominated track at this year’s Oscars ceremony and also took the stage at this year’s American Music Awards. Beyonce rattled the world performing “Daddy Lessons” with the Dixie Chicks at the CMA Awards and stunned us with a twenty minute medley at the MTV Video Music Awards. Nope, we’re not done yet. Beyonce took her Lemonade on tour this summer mesmerizing us with her flawless water choreography and Gaga supported her Joanne album with an informal dive bar tour.
