Before I start, I just want you to know for your own sake, there’s no certain rhyme scheme you should be using I’m just going to talk about what I like. Also, if you’re not familiar with rhyme schemes you should check out my other video so you understand what we’re talking about. I’m going to assume if you’re still watching this video you understand rhyme schemes and types of rhyme. I’m going to use the term ‘rhyme scheme’ loosely and you’ll see why in a minute. The rhyme scheme I use most frequently is pretty close to: ……....AB AB…..AB …..…..AB AB…..AB AB…..CD CD…..CD …..…...CD CD…….CD With occasionally a few more rhymrs peppered in. I try to hold my end rhyme schemes for at least 4 bars before switching, just because I like to layer the rhymes. I also try to get in as many internals on that same scheme as possible. After 4 bars, I’m usually ready to switch into a new scheme, but I like to use one more set at the start of the new line, to ease the audio transition a bit. The reason I said I use ‘rhyme scheme’ loosely in this sense is because my rhymes tend to include multi-syllable words. Moreso than a scheme, I tend to stick with sets where I can mostly rhyme sets of two-three words, however, if you know how multis work, you’ll understand that you can rhyme longer syllable words with multiple smaller syllable words. By the time I hit my fourth rhyme set, I might be breaking into smaller words. Let me give you an example Y’all suck & while you stay in the middle I hit the top, like we was playing paddidle I keep it simple, cause if I try makin a riddle Your brains’ll be whittled down to empty gazes and spittle Ya minds are blatantly little, so now I’m here to educate Make moves I never wait this year Ive been too late When you use more complex schemes like this, it gets a little harder to map the letters accurately. You could say this was mostly an A scheme if you take the whole chain as one rhyme set…...but you could also call it an ABCDE scheme, if you wanted to call each syllable a rhyme. Depending on how you want to look at it, it maps out completely differently. Technically the more correct way would be by syllables, but it can turn your verse into a giant mess of letters pretty quickly in this strategy. Anyway, I know the verse I just gave didn’t even follow my scheme format exactly, but it’s the first
