They had a happy life until Mei (meiku) was tragically attacked by one of the test subjects, which was a giant snake btw. Mei managed to kill the creature but died minutes later from blood loss. Player took her soul and turned her into a protogen, so he had something to remember her as, but the protogen didn’t remember him at all, and then meiku became best friends with alpha, which had an permanently broken screen. They did everything together, mei could protect her from bullies, and Alpha knew a lot about tech. It wasn’t long before they developed feelings for each other, and became the first protogen lesbian couple.
