It’s mutant versus god in the newest X-Men: Apocalypse trailer. As May 27th quickly approaches, 20th Century Fox has released a brand new Apocalypse trailer and it looks like it will be all out war for the X-Men. The trailer starts out with a meeting between Xavier and Magneto with Magneto asking if he ever wakes up in the middle of the night with the feeling that “they” will come for you and your children. Showing how far he’s come from Days of Future Past, Xavier responds that he pities the poor soul that comes looking for trouble at his school. The statement is highlighted by shots of some of the powerful mutants that make up that school like Jean Grey, Cyclops, Nightcrawler and even Mystique. While we know that “poor soul” who comes looking for trouble will be Apocalypse and it will be one of the toughest battles the X-Men have ever faced, at least we know Xavier and his students will be prepared to face the challenge. While we’ve seen plenty of new villain Apocalypse in previous trailers, we now get a look at him in his less smurf-like form. He appears to be in some sort of Egyptian tomb and while it looks to be taking place thousands of years ago there are elements of futuristic tech. In the comics, Apocalypse utilizes alien technology and it looks like that aspect of the character could be included in the film. Next on our list of favorite moments is the showcasing of Apocalypse and his four Horsemen. It’s still unclear what powers Apocalypse actually has. We know he has the power to persuade others to follow him and alter his mass, and in this trailer we also see he has the power to make people either pass out or perhaps even die with just a look. We also see him handing over Magneto’s iconic helmet in what looks to be a pivotal moment in Magneto’s decision to join him. Next up is Quicksilver. After being one of the biggest highlights of Days of Future Past, Quicksilver promises to get a lot more screen time this time around. We see him talking to his mother as she asks him if he plans to join them. While it doesn’t appear to be a crucial scene, it does highlight Quicksilver’s personality and more importantly, his fashion sense. While we love his rock band inspired shirt, seeing him sport a Six Million Dollar Man shirt while playing Ms. Pac-Man just screams “1980s”. And finally, the trailer promises plenty of big action sequences plus some one-on-one battles with Beast taking on Psylocke and Storm battling Cyclops, but our most anticipated face-off has to be Nightcrawler verus Angel. We know from previously released concept art that Angel is spending his time in underground mutant fighting rings that look straight out of Mad Max, but this new trailer reveals that one of his opponents in the cage will be a young Nightcrawler
