Garland Shooting Suspect Elton Simpson Previously Tied to Terror Investigation HD

Authorities scoured the Phoenix apartment of a man, well known to federal authorities from a previous terror investigation, now suspected of opening fire Sunday outside a building hosting a prophet Muhammad cartooning contest in suburban Dallas. Elton Simpson, 30, was named as one of two gunmen shot dead Sunday near the Curtis Culwell Center. The center was hosting a controversial contest, awarding a $10,000 prize to the artist who created the best cartoon of the prophet Muhammad, whose depiction is considered sacrilege in Islam.
