Malankara Orthodox Lenten Song

This is one of the hymns (kolo) that is sung during the Great Lent on Fridays at the third hour. The song is sung in Malayalam by 4th year Old Seminary Student, Shaiju Mathai. Below is a rough translation: I lost my way and I was in hell You came to hell so that Satan could not ridicule me Save me O Messiah who is full of mercy Lead me according to your will out of this wretched state O Lord, I put on your cross as a weapon to fight against the armies of the enemy Hallelujah - grant me victory. The world is a dangerous sea which leads me away from You My sins have brought me down the evil path On the day of judgment my soul is raised into the swirls of the river of fire O God, by the sign of Your living cross Guide me that I may cross over the sea of fire.
