An absorbing journey - dream inducing pads and a robust, driving bassline set the tone for the track, whilst lo-fi crunched claps, spacey, animated arps and emotive, chopped vocal samples ripple through this refined and deeply alluring trip. Black Science Orchestra’s Ashley Beedle takes the reins for the first of the remixes. Aptly titled, the ‘Afrikanz on Marz’ remix lands in an afro galaxy at the far reaches of the cosmos. Beedle’s masterful drum programming, intertwining exuberant snare, conga and clap rhythms, draws dancers in whilst keeping things suitably cosmic, soaking the Rhodes and keys in galactic flange and introducing a new funked out bass. Flip it over and Canadian 20:20 Vision affiliate, Fred Everything, offers up a sublime, late-night voyage. Each element from the pulsing stabs and bass melodies that bounce off each other in the darkness, to the glimmering rides and shakers, add to the atmosphere of this deep, detroit flavoured jam. One to lock into on the dancefloor, or dream away through the stratosphere. NDATL head honcho Kai Alce then steps up for a jazz-infused interpretation. Groove-laden to its core, a spontaneity and soulful character colour every touch Alce makes, with the free flowing synthwork and impassioned piano touches bringing out his buoyant personality. Rounding off the EP, Ashley Beedle provides an exquisite reprise, leaving the kicks at the door and focusing on those majestic, otherworldly keys to move minds as it resonates across the ether.
