Home made garage attic lift hoist elevator dumb waiter using garage door components

I have 12 foot ceilings in my garage. The attic is one flight of stairs above the garage.. Quite a lot of stairs to climb carrying heavy loads so I built this attic lift using a Harbor Freight 440 lb hoist and commercial garage door components. The idea for the lift came from another youtube video. HF says the hoist is rated at 880 lbs but that is for double cables and a pulley. The hoist cost around $100 and the garage door equipment $100 from an internet source. The local garage door supply house wanted $300 for the drums, cable, and bearings. The 1 inch square tube and 1 inch solid steel shaft were also around $100 from a steel yard and I have lots of steel left over. I attached the shaft to the motor by welding on an 18mm long socket to the end of the 1 inch shaft to fit the hex end of the hoist shaft. The cables are 14 feet long and custom made. I used garage door commercial drums for up to an 18 foot garage door rated at 500 lbs each. 18 foot drums leave plenty of room on the drum using 14 foot cables with the carriage lifted to the attic.I used 4 bearing holders for the shaft as I intend to lift up to a couple hundred pounds of stuff at a time. I operate the lift from the attic with the yellow up/down switch.
