Fantastic vintage Otis passenger elevator HD

21.10.2013
We are in the beautiful, old apartment house at 355 East 51st Street off of Beekman Place, where we have the opportunity to ride a well restored vintage Otis passenger elevator from the 6th floor to the ground floor. As we call the elevator, notice the original fixture which contains the push button and a light-up "in use" sign. As we step into the elevator, take note of the drain plug, which has an Otis coin for a cover. We also have a little fun with the door open button, as well as the door bumper, which is still operable, as there is no electronic eye to keep the door open as it commences to close. Upon reaching the ground floor, we step out into the small receiving lobby where we look at an article published in 1924, reflecting the construction of the building. We then head down the steps, through the ornate stained glass doors, and into the attractive looking courtyard, where we look back at the building and end the video. Enjoy the view of the vintage Otis, which is bottom driven with a counterweight and has a capacity of 1500 pounds. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on October 17th, 2013.
