New type of diabetes: Adrenaline-rich diabetes, the number is significant HD
Adrenaline, or epinephrine, has two biological effects that influence glucose regulation. First, adrenaline suppresses insulin secretion, which may cause glucose level rise. Second, adrenaline promotes supply of sugar to blood by boosting secretion of glucagon which in turn make liver release sugar, and also by working on adipocytes to force release of fat which saves glucose consumption by peripheral cells, so called glucose sparing. Obviously, when adrenaline level maintains at a certain high level, hyperglycemia, or diabetes is doomed. Note, this type of diabetes is characterized by low level of insulin and high level of adrenaline in blood. Therefore, once on-set, the patient is progressively becoming leaner and leaner. That is predictable because low level of insulin causes leanness.
