Official Launch of Sunway Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon by the Menteri Besar of Selangor, Dato Seri Azmin Ali. 2 February 2016 Nickelodeon theme park makes Southeast Asian debut in Sunway Lagoon Sunway Group and Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) today launched Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon, the first Nickelodeon theme attraction in Asia, in Sunway Lagoon. The theme park features a "lost civilisation" surrounded by rainforest, which offers 14 immersive experiences, some of which are based on Nickelodeon’s hit properties, such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and iconic green slime. “Nickelodeon is a very popular channel in Southeast Asia and has an immense audience in Malaysia. Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon will enable kids and families in Malaysia and Southeast Asia to connect with our brand and Nickelodeon’s iconic characters in a unique and meaningful way," said VIMN Asia executive vice-president and managing director Mark Whitehead. Guest of honour Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Amin Ali said the new addition to Sunway Lagoon would "greatly boost the appeal of Selangor as a tourist destination”. He was particularly pleased to see the emphasis on the rainforest, as it was in line with the state’s aim to create more greenery within the state. VIMN Asia chose to have the first Nickelodeon theme park in Malaysia because of the ideal partnership with Sunway Lagoon, which was named "Asia’s Best Attraction" by International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions four years in a row (2007 to 2010). Sunway Lagoon was also the "4th Best Water Theme Park in Asia’" by TripAdvisor’s Travellers Choice 2015, and won the Silver Award in the Entertainment Category at the Putra Brand Award 2015.
