Schubert "Ringtone" HD

In a fantasy exchange between Thomas Beavitt, singer and translator of a new contemporary English version of the Winterreise song-cycle and Franz Schubert, the composer calls the singer during a rehearsal to congratulate him and ask why the latter has translated his song Die Post as "Ringtone". The singer-translator answers that the reason is that modern audiences may not immediately understand that a 19th century postman would play a horn to announce his arrival and that a Ringtone, which creates a similar reaction, associated with the arrival of a missive from a loved one, is a more easily understood audio image. The exchange is conducted in Russian and English. The video promotes the premiere concert which will take place at "Dom Muzyki", Ekaterinburg, Russia, at 19:00 on the 19th of April 2018.
