196th MEB CTE II HD

16.07.2015
This is the Culminating Training Event (CTE) for 196th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (MEB) at Camp Ripley, MN. The 196th, headquarted out of Sioux Falls, S.D., conducted a wet gap crossing involving nine South Dakota units from 11 communities throughout the Eastern half of the state. As you watch, you will see the 211th Sapper Co. from Madison and DeSmet cross Ferrell Lake to secure the far side shoreline to allow the 200th Engineer Company from Pierre, Mobridge, and Chamberlain to deploy a six bay raft to transport a Bradley fighting vehicle from 1/145th Armor Regiment, Stow, Ohio, and one of the 211th’s Armored Personnel Carrier across the lake to provide additional security. This allowed the 200th to then build a 33-bay fully enclosed bridge that enabled the remaining security forces to cross the bridge. The bridge also allowed convoys of logistical elements provided by the 139th Brigade Support Battalion (BSB) from Brookings, Company A, from Watertown, S.D. and Company B out of Mitchell, and the 153rd Engineer Battalion from Huron, and 153rd Forward Support Company from Parkston. Communication Resources were provided by the 115th Signal Company from Brookings. (Videographer/Production editor Staff Sgt. Charles Butler)
