United Youth 4 Christ “Connecting the Generations” Panel Discussion - May 23, 2015
A presentation by youth leaders from five different churches and communities in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area on ways of bridging the gap between the second generation and their first generation immigrant parents. The program was birthed out of Malachi 4:6, in which the Prophet Malachi said God will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents in the last days. Thus, the aim of the panel discussion is to create an environment of open dialogue in our communities (including, but not limited to, Ethiopian, Eritrean, Oromo, and Anyuak) so that the generational gap that is causing Christian youth to abandon their faith can be rectified. Presenters are: Friday Omot (Anyuak Christian Community) – “Bringing Christ in the Homes;” Yosef Zenebe (Ethiopian Evangelical Church in MN) – “Unconditional Love;” Kalkidan Mulugeta (Evangelical Mekane Yesus Fellowship Church in MN) – “Accepting the Prodigals;” Hawi Tsegaye (The Branch) – “Cultivating Potentials: Bringing the Best out of your Children;” and Lammi Aga (Our Redeemer Oromo Evangelical Church in MN) – “Generational Impacts: The Role of Parents in Leaving Positive Legacies.” Moderator: Teklehaimanot (“Tek”) Emru (Zion Evangelical Fellowship Church).
