Shrī Natésha chitprakāsha - Rāga Vijayasaraswati - An exquisite rendition -M Balamuralikrishna
The composition “ Shrī Natésha chit-prakāsha” is dedicated to Lord Shiva and the poet in Balamuralikrishna (BMK) captures the glory of the Lord and the eternal connection of music with Him. Interestingly, BMK’s Janaka Rāga Kriti Manjari published in 1952 has a “ Lakshana Geetam” in the Rāga Vijaya-saraswati (a derivative of 57th Mela – Simhéndramadhyama. With a scale of ascending notes s G2 M2 P D1 N3 S and descending notes S N3 D1 M2 G2 R2 s) which also starts with words “ Shrī Natésha chit-prakāsha”. I suppose, the “ Lakshana Geetam” might have evolved as a composition over a period of time. The construction of the composition is quite different from the other compositions of Balamuralikrishna. It is also interesting to observe how the Pallavi of the song is sung in two different octaves. The composition is in Sanskrit and found to be sung with lots of energy and listening to it, the mind becomes contemplative. Listen to this rare song and do share your reflections.
