The Who - 1964 Reading (Full Album) UK

The WhoLive at the Olympia Ballroom, Reading, UK;October 24, 1964.Fair to good soundboard (remastered). The Who performed extensively in 1964, supporting their first-ever single “Zoot Suit/I’m The Face” and their late-1964 single “I Can’t Explain”. The band were still known as The Detours when the year began before changing their name to The Who in February; another name change to The High Numbers in the middle of the year hoped to capitalise on the mod movement popular with British youth in the early to mid-1960s, but the group reverted to The Who after only a few months. 1964 was also the year drummer Keith Moon joined the band. - wikipedia00:00 Gotta Dance To Keep From Crying 3:3903:39 You Really Got Me (Instrumental) 1:3305:11 Young Man Blues 1:3606:47 Green Onions 2:5509:42 I Gotta Dance To Keep From Crying 1:1110:53 Instrumental Jam 1:5612:49 I Gotta Dance To Keep From Crying 1:1314:02 Long Tall Shorty 5:0019:02 Pretty Thing 4:0523:07 Smokestack Lightning/Money (That’s What I Want) 10:2733:33 Here ‘Tis 2:15--------------------------This is for the collectors and it’s all thanks to lilpanda for sharing this.lilpanda noted:A few words on this: When I was visiting our patron saint, Dave, one day (I know, I’m a name-dropper) I saw this laying around and ran off a CD copy, I only had it on cassette. Cut to years later: I’m trying to play it in the car and the bass is so loud, it’s frying my little speakers. So I throw it on the PC to remaster the bass down. In doing so, I discover the show is littered with drop outs and volume fluctuations. First I had to fix those. The 11 tracks are remastered on top of the dropouts being fixed. I only eq’d it and looped the bass down - no NR was used. Take your pick.Yes, there is a brief section on the dvd of songs filmed from the Railway Hotel - however, one song on the dvd is not here and the other is in a noticably different arrangement, so I’m comfortable that this has not been issued commercially. There is some debate about the date on this, but the consensus seems to be October 24, so I’m going with the flow. [This has also been listed as Railway Hotel, Wealdstone, October 20, 1964; and some also Scene Club, Soho, September 2, 1964.]
