a proto of a true innovation is only a first step towards making it possible eventually..let me theoreticaly solve many issues raised about this so far (but for us we cant yet afford to make the next proto, but are in the process halfway thru). for STEERING, all we need is a similar belt drive, but two paralell ones, about 8 inches apart. they would not exactly operate like a tanks tracks but a mix between that kind of operation and that of two parts of a paralellogram (think of you standing with your legs 8inches apart, and now without lifting your foot, bend your left leg and then the right so that you "bank" left and right). with this kind of banking as well as slowing and increasing speed of the relevant belt, it can be steered. for BRAKING, we are trying to device a way that the weight shifts towards the rear by mechanical or electronic methods so that one can break without topplong over. to make you realise that its a realisable idea, i would bring to your notice that if SEGWAY with a person tilted in front of the line of the tyres can stop, this shouldnt be too difficult to imagine working. now the ADVANTAGE of such a big curve is that it can be a smooth onroader as well as an offroader since offroad abilities depend on radius of the tyres, width of the tyres (which we can alter to choice) and torque (which too is under our control).... maybe im wrong, but i believe theres still a chance... ..cheers
