The First Pike Fishing Session of 2021/22, Vlog no 78 Well October is finally here, and that means its time for Pike fishing. So I packed the van up with all the gear and off I went into the wilds of County Fermanagh and the glorious Erne system. Sadly my plans for a easy session were dashed because there was the second of three pike competition weekends which is just great isn’t it, have to be honest I am not a fan of pike fishing competitions even less of a fan when I see “Anglers” putting pike into barrels. So change of plans and a rethink of a venue I ended up on a different location. I was joined by a good friend of mine who’d had a ten year break from angling so it was great just to get him on the bank and catching fish. Ok I blanked but I seen a nice little Red Squirrel these are always great to see because the grey squirrels introduced from America decimated the Red Squirrels population this was not good, however we have a little predator here in Northern Ireland called a Pinemartin and well it is quite a fan of the grey squirrels because they are easier to catch and eat than the red ones. Anyways back to the fishing it was good day to be back out and it’s the first session of a season where things can only get better lets face it I cant blank worse than I did already, oh and back to the Pike I have the first overnight session of the winter so I am looking forward to that.
