The Chinese smartphone maker has confirmed that MIUI 10 based on Android Oreo will be pushed to up to 33 models across the Mi and Redmi series. Now, the team behind MIUI has published an article today which details the design story behind the MIUI 10. Interestingly, the article also talks a bit about company’s approach with MIUI 11, which will arrive later next year. With the next version of MIUI, Xiaomi says it will primarily focus on evolution of the UI elements like it did this year. The team notes that the new MIUI 10 was initially conceived with smartphones supporting 16:9 aspect ratio displays in mind but was later redesigned for mobile displays that support taller 18:9 aspect ratio. With MIUI 10, Xiaomi has designed the interface to take entire space of the taller displays and have even been adopted for devices that feature a notched display. Xiaomi’s MIUI is not the worst mobile interface but it fails to deliver on timely software updates.
