***NOT FOR BROADCAST*** Contact Brett Adair with Live Storms Media to license. brett@livestormsnow.com CHICAGO - Strong thunderstorms produced over 2.25" of rainfall according to doppler-radar estimates on the south side of the City of Chicago. Much of that rain fell within a 30-minute period. The Beverly neighborhood saw many roads at least partially covered by rain water after sewers could not keep up. Traffic was slowed and had to merge into other lanes to avoid driving into flood waters in the afternoon. Small hail of peas and pennies were also reported. Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued west of the city as the line first formed. The storms were capable of producing 60mph wind gusts.
