Let’s Play Shadow of the Wool Ball #02: A Prickly Situation Indeed HD

We may have broken out of our cell and found a weapon, but we won’t last long charging headlong into combat without thinking things through first. Clearly what we need to do is escape this bunker somehow without alerting the alien cat guards that we’re free, then try and find a resistance cell to join. From there, we can work to destabilise the cat army with espionage and subterfuge, building up discontent among those that are being ruled by them until they rise up and drive the cats from our world. It’d be a long and difficult struggle, but ultimately we may prevail. Alternatively, we could go deal with all of them by ourselves, armed only with our wits, any weapon we can find and copious amounts of coffee. I daresay it may sound like the more ludicrous of the two plans, but its far more likely to work on the grounds that we’re somehow an absolute bad ass despite getting captured easily in the introduction… unless that was our plan all along! No, no it really wasn’t, but that’s not what we’ll be telling people after we win and get to regale those we rescue with our acts of heroism, is it? It’s not often that I play a game with lots of mods and its rarer still that I play a total conversion mod, but I happened to stumble across this one and was impressed by how awesome it was, not to mention the entire premise of the game was amusing to me. Deep down it’s an homage to Wolfenstein 3D in gameplay and aesthetics, though it does a lot more then the game it pays tribute to, adding new mechanics, enemy types and all manner of other things that makes the game huge fun to play. It also oozes charm from all the hard work that went into making this unique and awesome. I’ve been through a fair amount of it already but that doesn’t mean this is going to be easy, especially with the difficult level I’ve selected. Hopefully I’ll do alright in the beginning levels as it only gets harder as we progress. Shadow of the Wool Ball can be downloaded from here and requires ZDoom to function.
