Since 1906, we have measured vestibular function with calorics, addressing only the lateral semicircular canal. In 1988, Halmagyi and Curthoys invented the head impulse test. More recently, Otometrics/ICS developed the vHIT goggles, making ti possible to measure vestibular function in all semicircular canals and at high frequencies.
