Part 1 of Marathon. --------------------------- [cassies POV] I woke up the next morning alone in Joes bed. My eyes were stinging and felt heavy from all the crying last night. I was exhausted. Joe was tossing and turning all night with random sobs here and there. It broke my heart. I was somewhat scared that he wasnt in the bed. I wasnt completely sure if it was because of my dream last night or because I didnt want him to do something dumb like last night when he got drunk. I got out and walked out to the cold quiet house. I assumed everyone was still asleep since their doors were closed. This was beginning to get scary. Mr. and Mrs. Jonas were visiting family with Frankie but were coming down today for Joes game. Oh no. Joes game. I hurried downstairs hoping to find him in the kitchen. His favorite room in the house. My heart sank when I saw no one. I was beginning to panic but out of he corner of my eye I found him sitting outside staring off into space. I ran upstairs and then met him outside. "thought you could use this" I said cautiously handing him a sweater. He looked up at me with a red nose, puffy eyes and a weak smile. He took it and slipped it on. I sat next to him and he wrapped his arm around me giving the top of my head a kiss. "thanks" he responded. His voice raspy and tired. I hugged him and held him tight. "you ok?" I asked cautiously. "no." he responded. He had his glasses on and took them off to wipe his eyes. I cant stand this. "Im so sorry babe." "thanks. Im sorry about last night. You know about being..." I stopped him midway.
