Jull Ensemble, a music group consisting of haegeum players, violists, and composers, aims to harmonize the characteristics and music grammars of the Western and Korean traditional musical instruments, thereby creating art which can resonate with both traditions and today’s culture. ---------- [곡소개 Work Description] 〈해금과 비올라를 위한 이중주 "민속" Duo for Haegeum and Viola "Minsok" 〉 (작곡 김준호 composed by Kim Junho) 총 6개의 짧은 모음곡으로 되어있으며 우리 일상에서 느껴지는 여러 가지 모습들을 담은 곡이다. 현대 사회의 모습과 그 속에 녹아있는 전통적인 바탕을 담아내었으며 서양악기인 비올라와 국악기인 해금이 각각의 특성을 살리면서도 서로의 조화에 중점을 둔 작품이다. Minsok, a suite of six short pieces, portrays various aspects of our daily lives. Describing the face of today’s society and its traditional bases, the work showcases a harmony between the viola and haegeum while preserving their distinctive features. 1. 술래잡기 Hide and Seek 두 악기가 서로 격정적으로 추격하는 듯한 모습을 표현하였다. 서로 비슷하게 진행하면서도 각 악기에 어울리는 주법들을 사용하였다. In the piece, the two instruments sound like chasing each other passionately. While following similar progressions of music, the two instruments display playing styles suitable for each of them. 2. 밤그림자 Night Shadow 달빛아래 사람과 그림자의 모습을 표현하였다. 그리운 스승님에 대한 오마주 작품이다. An homage to the composer’s teacher, the piece describes people and their shadows under the moonlight. 3.농부의 노래 Farmer’s Song 노동 사이에 농부가 얻은 한가로운 시간을 표현했다. 반복적으로 흥얼거리는 선율 아래 계속 변화하는 화음을 배치했다. Depicting a farmer’s leisure times between labors, the piece places constantly changing chords under repeated melodies. 4. 도시탈무 City Mask Dance 사이키델릭한 조명 아래 술 취한 말뚝이의 춤을 상상했다. 시니컬하고 히스테릭한 도시인의 몸부림을 표현하였다. Imagining a drunk malttugi dancing under psychedelic lightings, the piece portrays city dwellers squirming in a cynical and hysterical way. 5. 나른한 오후 Drowsy Afternoon 햇빛이 찌르는 오후, 졸고 있는 사람을 표현했다. 깨보려고 여러 제스쳐를 취해보지만 결국 잠에 든다. The piece depicts a person dozing off in a shiny afternoon, who makes various gestures before falling asleep. 6. 무당의 춤 Shaman’s Dance 무당의 격정적인 춤사위를 표현해보았다. 엇모리장단을 베이스로 자유롭고 즉흥적으로 구성하였다. Describing a shaman’s passionate dance, the piece features a free and impromptu composition based on eotmori jangdan. ---------- [출연자 Performer] 해금(haegeum instrument) 조은혜(Cho Eunhye) 비올라(viola) 오승연(Oh Seungyeon) [장소 Location] 산속등대복합문화공간(Sansok Lighthouse) 2019년 5월 9일 개관한 산속등대는 40여 년간 방치되어 온 제지공장을 리모델링하여 전시‧카페‧교육‧힐링‧소통을 목적으로 재탄생된 복합문화공간이다. Sansok Lighthouse, a product of remodeling a paper mill that had sit idle for more than 40 years, opened in May 9 2019 as a complex cultural space for exhibition, café, education, healing, and communication.
