Black Lagoon: Roanapur HD

~ ep #17 “The Roanaur Freakshow Circus" 10•31•06 Roanapur is the fictional city of Black Lagoon. Located in Thailand, Roanapur is where the Lagoon Company is based. While Rock is examining a map during “An Office Man’s Tactics”, Roanapur is shown to be in the geographic location of Trat, Thailand After the Vietnam War, Roanapur became a city where deserting soldiers and prostitutes ran like wildfire. It was explained by Mr. Chang that thirty-five years before the start of the series Roanpur was a dying port town. Chang goes on to state that Roanapur is a criminal center that was made by criminals cooperating for single common interest. The actual city of Roanapur is an old port in southern Thailand. The deserters and the losers of the Vietnam War took refuge here, and were later joined by the worst villains and criminals to grace this planet. Prostitutes, drug-addicts, mercenaries, killers, and psychopaths from all over the globe, compose the current population of Roanapur. At the Roanapur port entrance, there is an enormous statue of Buddha, left in ruins as a testament to the brutality of the long-forgotten war. The statue is "supposed to bring peace to the world", but now just sits idle, watching the carnage and madness unfold around it. Roanapur is accessible from the continent thanks to a bridge. At the extremity of this bridge, a noose conspicuously hangs, serving as a reminder to all that dare enter. A warning that you have just passed the gates into the city of the walking dead; just don’t become a real corpse because we have a coffin waiting just for you. The most well known groups in Roanapur are the Rip-off Church, the Triad, and Hotel Moscow. Some of the lesser known groups are the Verrocchio from the Italian mafia, an unnamed crime syndicate, and the CIA (not to be confused with Eda’s existing undercover operation at the Church).
