Luna: A video game that heals HD

“Games have the ability to tell new stories, in new ways,” says Robin Hunicke, a game developer and UC Santa Cruz professor. Hunicke is the co-founder of Funomena, an indie game studio in San Francisco. She believes virtual reality games can have a positive impact on the world: They have the potential to heal grief or create empathy. The studio is currently working on a game called Luna, a virtual reality fairytale about untangling trauma. The game begins when a young bird is lured away from its nest. The bird wakes up in an unfamiliar and lonely place. With each new puzzle, players help the bird discover a new totem from the past and rebuild the path back to its home.
