I Watched Myself Sleep - Get your “out-of-body-experience” with I Watched Myself Sleep. Metal that slaps the soul out of your body, into another dimension. About VachschlaV VachschlaV (artificial word from Wachtraum [German = lucid dream]) “VachschlaV tells the story about a lost soul, trapped inside a never-ending dream. Our character faces devastation, after he realizes that he knows nothing about life anymore. In order to escape this nightmare he is willing to take every chance to end his suffering. By entering a new consciousness, a psychedelic world, he is forced to rethink and reevaluate everything that he knows about life and consciousness. Thrilled by this experience and full of euphoria he enters upon this newly discovered world. He also begins to feel a connection to an omnipotent force, that seems to watch over him, and which will later on in the story challenge him but is at this point not yet to be understood. Drifting through time and space for a time that felt like many lifetimes, he hits rock bottom. His mind and body are suddenly overwhelmed by feelings of loneliness and fear. Unable to bear the weight of these emotions he comes up with a plan: trying to escape this unfolding realm of nightmares. Finally, unable to escape, he realizes that his mind is not bound to his body or any other dimension of existence anymore. What will he have to sacrifice to return?” Comment of I Watched Myself Sleep: Our newest album is a rabbit hole; it is full of references to our old albums, famous writers like Goethe, contemporary metal music and even everyones very personal experiences in the world of dreams. Since 2014 head of the band, Robert did not want to give up on this project/dream and was left in 2019 the only remaining band member. Therefore, he took it upon himself to change the brand and partially the music style. Robert not only writes and produces all the music, music videos and graphic content, but also directs other cooperating artist to create the visual concept of the brand (i.e. album artwork, merchandise, etc). This overarching concept refers to everything “that happens in the world of dreams” and is visually reflected in the band`s music videos and merchandise. The main purpose of the band is to create art, in which the lyrics, music and visual concept combined become a method of engaging with feelings of longing, hope, and despair and the desire to understand one’s sel
