Lost PLA casting (knurled bracelet) HD
This is a video of what the minimalist lost PLA casting process looks like. The knurled bracelet is being cast in 6061 aluminum, the investment is satin cast 20 and the burnout was ~1500F [normally ~1250F] which was hot enough to degrade the plaster, this is negligible when the details are not thin planar sheets under 2 mm. The flask was allowed to cool to ~900F before the metal was poured. The vacuum chamber was hooked up to a standard shop vac with ~ -28PSI suction power. As a side note the aluminum was ~ 300F+ above the required casting temperature of ~1100F normally the metal does not need to be glowing [+1400F] to cast the aluminum… This is more obvious at the end of the video when the lights are shut off.
