Half submerged bodies are those which are half inside the liquid and half outside. partially submerged or floating bodies would mean the same from Fluid mechanics considerations since the Buoyancy force is dependant on the volume of the fluid displaced by the body. The centre of buoyancy of a floating body is the point about which all the body parts exactly buoy each other—in other words, the effective centre of the displaced water. The metacentre remains directly above the centre of buoyancy regardless of the tilt of a floating body, such as a ship. The metacentric height (GM) is a measurement of the initial static stability of a floating body. It is calculated as the distance between the centre of gravity of a ship and its metacentre. A larger metacentric height implies greater initial stability against overturning. The buoyant force comes from the pressure exerted on the object by the fluid. Because the pressure increases as the depth increases, the pressure on the bottom of an object is always larger than the force on the top - hence the net upward force. It is called as Stable Equilibrium. Unstable Equilibrium for Floating Bodies: If a floating body is given a small angular displacement (disturbing moment) and after the removal of that Force or moment, body does not come back to its original position. It is called as UnStable Equilibrium
