Casting Pewter Ingots HD
Here are some details about our ingot casting. The metal we cast is pewter, an alloy containing 85-99% tin. We are unsure of the exact percentage we used. The foundry is made out of an old clay pot surrounded by ash and sand. We filled the clay pot with Royal Oak Charcoal, which we lit using gasoline. Once the charcoal was red hot we placed the crucible (a stainless steel medicine cup) containing the pewter and the mold into the foundry. The reason why we heated the molds is to get the moisture out for safety and best results. We got the molds from graphitemolds@yahoo.com (be sure not to instantly cool the molds in water to prevent cracking.) Then we poured the ingots and repeated. The ingots fall out out of the molds with no effort. Sorry about the shaky camera movement! We had adult supervision throughout the video. We do not own the song in this video. The song is Devil On My Shoulder by Billy Talent. To personally contact us email us at: firedingots@gmail.com
