Path of Exile: Molten Strike Iron Grip Templar on Docks Merciless HD
When the 1.1.3 patch came out, i was working on a phys melee marauder, who then tested the new skill Molten Strike (MS). Since MS incorporates a high potion (60% of phys converted to fire) of elemental damage (and projectiles), i opted to roll a new build, this ele/phys tank templar. (Skill tree link below) Current supports used with MS: - Multistrike - Faster Attacks - Weapon Elemental Damage - Melee Physical Damage (swapped with Added Fire Damage or sth) Molten Strike mechanics: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Molten_Strike As opposed to the fact that the support gem "Melee Physical Damage" does not directly increase the damage of the projectiles MS launches on attack/swing, it does overall increase the damage of the projectiles, since it is derived from the damage of the melee potion of the attack. I tested several combinations (added fire, increased elemental with weapons, concentrated effect, point blank,...) and this combination turned out to work best for the used weapon (phys dmg claw, which gives life on hit which works good with those projectiles, because each projectile gives life on hit) - but i try to get a decent high dps crit dagger, so the support gem combination used will change. Notable skill tree nodes: - Iron Grip (applies strength bonus to projectiles), currently the overal strength is at 426, per 5 str you gain 1% damage: 85,2% increased projectile damage :D - I picked one endurence charge and took the one of Oak Merciless too to have some fun with my Q20 Immortal Call gem Some math on the projectiles and Iron Grip: Imagine 1000 pdps (1000 phys damage, 1 second attack speed), MS converts 60% of phys damage to fire damage: 600 fire, 400 phys, Projectiles deal 40% less damage: 1000 x 0,6 = 600 -or- (equivalent) 600 x 0,6 + 400 x 0,6 == 360 + 240 = 600 Iron Grip 85,2% damage bonus: 600 x 1,852 = 1111,2. Per projectile. Which may hit a single mob :D I am leveling a Q17 Point Blank (PB) which i will swap in as soon as the attack speed penalty is tolerable for me. PB gives up to 50% increased projectile damage on near targets, which is perfect for this skill.
